A Scottish lad found himself in Houston for work. Deciding he was ready to meet someone to spend the long, hot days with he joined a little known site called Match. Meanwhile, a native Houstonian decided to try Match to meet someone outside her social circle. What happened next could be called fate or dumb luck thanks to the user name CardiffCityFan.

The lad messaged the lass, and after a few back and forth messages, they decided to meet at J. Blacks (RIP) for after work drinks. The rest as they say is history.

Ross and Cristane spent nine (yes, NINE) years traveling the world, becoming parents to two four-legged cuties (Mylo and Alfie), and eating and drinking their way through Houston. After their ninth (yes, NINTH) anniversary and on the cusp of their pup Mylo’s cancer treatment, Ross coaxed Cristane to take the pups to the Houston Arboretum for Mylo’s last pre-surgery hurrah.

While Cristane was distracted by Alfie trying to eat god knows what, Ross exclaimed, “Mylo show your mom what you have.” Fully expecting Mylo to have something he’s not supposed to in his mouth, Cristane turned around in a huff. To her surprise, Mylo had a cute little bandana on with words “Will you marry me?” The next thing she knew, Ross was on one knee at the turtle pond and asked her to marry him.

After an initial giggle fit and several “Are you being serious?”exclamations later (remember, it had been NINE years), Cristane said yes.
